Second Annual Quadrivium Interfaith Choral Workshop

Calling all singers! This interfaith workshop for community singers focuses on achieving your best technique in a choral environment. Singers will participate in targeted warm-ups, sectionals with the singers of Quadrivium, and group rehearsals with guest conductor Dr. Linda Mack. The workshop culminates in a performance of Elizabeth Poston's angelic anthem, "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," as part of Quadrivium's September 30 concert, In Bloom!

Fees are $30 per singer or $20 per group member. Group registration is encouraged! Registration information will go out to Quadrivium's mailing list and to individual faith communities by late August. Interested? Register or submit questions at quadriviumdurango@gmail.com.

In Bloom

The first program of Quadrivium's Flora and Fauna concert season, In Bloom explores the natural world in all its splendor, from the delicate beauty of flowers, to the verdure of spring, to the majesty of the very Tree of Life! Program highlights include Benjamin Britten's transcendent Flower Songs, sublime settings of "Go, Lovely Rose," and an unforgettable performance of Elizabeth Poston's angelic anthem, "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," by the Quadrivium Choral Workshop Singers.

This concert features guest bass-baritone Toby Vaughn Kidd and conductor Dr. Linda Mack. Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students at the door (cash or check only, please).

In Bloom is made possible by the FLC Artist in Residence program and the support of audiences like you!

Wild Kingdom

The second concert in our 2018-19 series, Wild Kingdom celebrates the creatures of Nature, from the beautiful to the bizarre! Featuring Janequin's lively Chants des oiseaux (Bird Songs), elegant madrigals and part-songs, and R. Murray Schafer's earthy Medieval Bestiary, this program is a family-friendly exploration of all things that scurry, bound, and fly!

This concert features guest bass-baritone Dr. Ryan Downey, and is made possible in partnership with Pine River Arts and the FLC Artist in Residence program. Come at 6:30pm for a dessert reception, followed by a 7:00pm concert! Admission to the Pine River Library concert in Bayfield is free; donations are encouraged.

Explore the richness of the human experience through folk-inspired music! From the passion of Paul Ben-Haim's Sephardic Folk Songs, to the everyday magic of Jody Rockmaker's Yiddish Choruses, to the romance of Brahms's Liebeslieder Waltzes, this uplifting program celebrates our many gifts here on Earth.

Uncommon Folk features guest baritone David Farwig and pianists Lisa Campi Walters and Christi Livingston. $15 adults/$5 children/FLC students free with ID.

Quadrivium's second season kicks off with Hosanna!, a concert celebrating the power of the heavenly spirit. Selections include William Byrd's elegant Mass for Five Voices and motets by Rheinberger, Barber, Mathias, Rubbra, and Bortniansky. Participants in the Hosanna! Choral Workshop will join Quadrivium and guest conductor Thomas Heuser for the finale, Ola Gjeilo's moving hymn, The Ground

Concert: A Madrigal Comedy

Join Quadrivium on a journey through Orazio Vecchi's L'amfiparnaso, a comedy about young lovers told through a series of beautiful, funny, and even raucous madrigals. Durango actors and Vecchi's timeless music will bring the texts of this 1594 work to life. Presented as part of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango Recital Series with support from the Fort Lewis College Foundation. Admission is $20 for adults and $8 for students and children.
